August 2016 Special At MCVH

August is pet obesity awareness month at Macon County Veterinary Hospital.  In a nationwide study in 2015, it was determined that 53% of dogs and 58% of cats are overweight or obese.  Many of these pets unneeded calories come from treats.  A large Milkbone treat has 115 calories per bone!  Come in and try our Lite Snackers.  They are satisfying and only 15 calories each.  For the month of August, Lite Snackers are $1 off per bag.  You can also substitute carrots or green beans.  Many dogs find these just as tasty as your traditional dog treat.  Also, it is important to make sure your pet gets plenty of exercise.  As you increase your cat or dog's exercise, remember to provide plenty of water especially in these warm months.
