Vaccination Schedules: Canine & Feline

Recommended Canine Vaccination Schedule

Puppy at Macon Co Vet Lafayette TNPuppies -  It is recommended that puppies receive their first DA2PCPV (Distemper, Adenovirus2, Parvovirus, Corona, Parainfluenza) at 6-8 weeks of age and that they continue to receive them every 3 – 4 weeks for a total of four vaccinations. 

1st Visit (6- 8 weeks of age):

  • Complete Physical Exam
  • DA2PCPV vaccine
  • Fecal Analysis and Deworming

2nd Visit:

  • DA2PCPV booster
  • Fecal Analysis and Deworming
  • Begin flea prevention

3rd Visit:

  • DA2PCPV booster, BORDATELLA (kennel cough)
  • Begin Heartworm Prevention

4th Visit:

  • DA2PCPV booster, RABIES vaccine, BORDATELLA booster
  • Adult Dogs (> than 5 months of age)- It is recommended that adult dogs who have never been vaccinated or their vaccine history is unknown, receive the annual visit and return 3 – 4 weeks later to booster the DA2PCPV and Bordatella vaccines.

Annual Visit:

  • Complete Physical Exam
  • DA2PCPV, BORDATELLA, & RABIES vaccine
  • Fecal Analysis and Deworming
  • Heartworm Test (if not on consistent heartworm prevention)

Spay/Neuter:  After 6 months of age

Kittens at Macon County Veterinary Hospital TNKittens -  It is recommended that kittens receive their first FVRCP (Feline Rhinotrachetitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia, Chlamydia) at 6-8 weeks of age and that they continue to receive them every 3 – 4 weeks for a total of four vaccinations.

1st Visit (6- 8 weeks of age):

  • Complete Physical Exam
  • Feline Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficency Test
  • FVRCP vaccine
  • Fecal Analysis and Deworming

2nd Visit:

  • FVRCP booster
  • Fecal Analysis and Deworming
  • Begin flea prevention

3rd Visit:

  • FVRCP booster, Feline Leukemia vaccine

4th Visit:

  • FVRCP booster, Feline Leukemia booster, Rabies vaccine

Adult Cats (> than 5 months of age) - It is recommended that adult cats who have never been vaccinated or their vaccine history is unknown, receive the annual visit and return 3 – 4 weeks later to booster the FVRCP and Feline Leukemia vaccines.

Annual Visit:

  • Complete Physical Exam
  • FVRCP, Feline Leukemia, & RABIES vaccine
  • Fecal Analysis and Deworming

Spay/Neuter: After 6 months of age

Declawing: After 6 weeks of age
